Blackpool illuminations

Blackpool's world famous illuminations

Warton, the headquarters of BAE Systems’ military aircraft business known as as Military Air Solutions, is enviably placed between the modern city of Preston and the vibrant seaside resort of Blackpool. Located on the Ribble Estuary, an area nationally recognised for its range of estuary birds, Warton is a thriving community with a good range of local services.

The nearby villages of Wrea Green and Freckleton, the popular coastal towns of Lytham and St Annes and of course Preston itself offer a wide range of accommodation, with house prices across the spectrum and a buoyant rentals market.

Preston Marina

The new city of Preston boasts a stylish marina

Warton is just minutes from the motorway and Preston has a main line railway station connecting the city with the rest of the UK. Blackpool airport has flights to an increasingly wide range of destinations throughout the UK and Europe.

There are excellent further education opportunities on the doorstep – the University of Central Lancashire is located in Preston city centre and the University of Lancaster is within easy reach – and Warton is just over an hour’s drive from the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria, ideal for those seeking a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Football fans have Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool within easy reach.

Lytham Windmill

The popular coastal town of Lytham is home to many BAE Systems employees

Warton is the largest of the BAE Systems sites in the UK, with its own operational airfield (company aircraft operate a shuttle service between Warton and other sites) and a full range of systems integration, final assembly and flight test facilities for current and legacy BASE Systems products. Warton is the design centre for combat aircraft research and development and its specialist test facilities include wind tunnels. Electronic warfare and hot gas laboratories.
