Sarah Cuff – Commercial
Sarah Cuff joined BAE Systems as a business apprentice and is now a group leader on one of Military Air Solutions’ most exciting programmes, based at Warton, Lancashire. Living in Garstang, it is just a short trip to work for Sarah – but now she’s really going places.
“I joined BAE Systems in 1998 and completed an 18 month business apprenticeship, working on various placements around the Military Air Solutions business.
“One of the great things about BAE Systems is the development opportunities on offer. Following my apprenticeship I joined a development programme that involved me completing placements on the Typhoon project; including spending time in Munich. Following completion of that programme, I was sponsored to do a part time BA (Hons) in Business Studies, which I have just completed and which, I'm sure, will be a big advantage in future roles.”
New challenge
“I started in Typhoon Commercial four years ago as a Contracts Officer and have progressed into the role of Group Leader Contracts. I really enjoy it as it is a fast paced environment and there is literally a new challenge every day.
“I have to form close relationships and interface with people from around the company and also with our customer, making each day interesting and varied. Ultimately I’d like to get experience working in other Commercial teams to broaden my commercial experience as part of my future development, as I know the culture will be quite different working with different customers.
“BAE Systems provides people with lots of opportunities to develop their skills in lots of ways. It has certainly helped me get off to a good start.”
