Joint Strike Fighter

Joint Strike Fighter

The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is a multi-role fighter optimised for the air-to-ground role, designed to meet the needs of the United States Air Force, US Navy and Marine Corps, as well as the UK’s Royal Air Force and Royal Navy. It is being developed in partnership with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

The world’s only multi-role, stealthy, supersonic fighter the JSF is being developed in three variants – a conventional take off and landing (CTOL) version for the US Air Force, a Short Take Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) version for the US Marines and the Royal Navy, and a Carrier Variant for the US Navy.

Replacing the A-10, AV-8 Harrier, F-16 and F/A-18 in current service with the two nations the JSF has improved survivability, precision engagement capability and mobility needed for future joint operations, together with reduced life-cycle costs for tomorrow’s fiscal environment.
